The 3rd EUSAIR Forum will take place at the Benedictine Monastery of San Nicolò l'Arena, located in Piazza Dante Alighieri, 32, Catania.


The Benedictine Monastery of San Nicolò l'Arena is one of the largest monasteries in Europe and a UNESCO World Heritage Site as a part of Val di Noto World Heritage Site. It is the second biggest Benedictine monastery in Europe. The monastery was founded in 1558 and today it hosts the Department of Humanities of the University of Catania, the oldest in Sicily and one of the oldest in Italy. Detailed information on the Venue can be found in the 3rd EUSAIR Forum Handbook.

How to get to Catania

Airport

Catania-Fontanarossa Airport, also known as Vincenzo Bellini Airport, is an international airport in Sicily located about 4.3 km southwest of Catania.

By Airport shuttle

There is an organized shuttle service with AMT Alibus from Catania International Airport to the city center and the Train station. The bus goes every 20 minutes, from 5.00 AM to midnight. The ticket costs 4 euro and is valid for 90 minutes, please validate it in the electronic ticket machine on the bus.

By Public bus

Local bus line 457 will take you downtown from the Fontanarossa airport in 20 minutes just like Alibus, but you might have to wait a bit longer because the public bus goes every 40 minutes.

The single ticket costs only 1 euro. You have to buy the ticket before you enter the bus and you can do that at the newspaper stand (Tabacchi) at the airport. Bus departure point is at the bus station in front of the airport building.

How to get to the Venue

From the city center 

By bus

From Piazza Borsellino (Port, “Archi della Marina”): take bus n°503 “Linea Circolare” and get off in Piazza Dante.

From Piazza della Repubblica (Train Station): take bus n°902 and get off in Via Vittorio Emanuele after the Greek-Roman Theatre, walk through Via Quartarone to Piazza Dante.
