Invitation to the online workshop: “Is the Future of Port Systems Still Green? – Balancing Decarbonisation, Competitiveness and Skills in the Adriatic-Ionian Macroregion”
As part of the preparatory activities for the upcoming Pillar 2 (Transport and Energy) Workshop entitled: “Green and Smart Ports: Shaping the Future of Green Transition and Skills Development in the Adriatic-Ionian Region” to be held on 16 October 2025 in Trieste, we are pleased to announce the organisation of two thematic online workshops aimed at engaging key stakeholders from the Adriatic-Ionian Region.
The first of these, scheduled for 27 June 2025, will convene Port Authorities and Terminal Operators from the EUSAIR area. This online session—titled: “Is the Future of Port Systems Still Green?” will explore the critical intersection of decarbonisation, competitiveness, and skills development in the port and maritime transport sectors.
The workshop will serve as a platform to:
-
Share experiences and best practices related to sustainable and innovative technologies in port systems.
-
Identify common challenges and opportunities in achieving climate goals while maintaining operational efficiency.
-
Discuss the education and training needs to support the green transition, which contributes to the broader objectives of the European Pact for Skills.
A second online workshop, specifically targeting Universities and Training Institutions, is planned for September 2025, further enriching the dialogue ahead of the in-person event in Trieste.
The detailed agenda and list of speakers will be circulated shortly.
We look forward to your active participation and to a fruitful exchange that will help shape a greener, smarter, and more resilient future for the Adriatic-Ionian port systems.
Please save the date.
