The EUSAIR community, together with the Presidency of North Macedonia, pays tribute with deep respect and gratitude to Ambassador Fabio Pigliapoco, who passed away in Ancona at the age of 80.
A distinguished figure of Italian diplomacy, Ambassador Pigliapoco dedicated his entire professional life to dialogue, cooperation and the strengthening of relations among countries. His commitment to the Adriatic–Ionian region was particularly significant.
Serving as Secretary General of the Adriatic and Ionian Initiative since 2011, he was a driving force behind the development of regional cooperation between the two shores of the Adriatic and Ionian seas. From the Permanent Secretariat in Ancona, he worked tirelessly to promote European integration, mutual understanding and shared development, values that lie at the heart of EUSAIR.
At this difficult time our thoughts are with his family, loved ones and colleagues.
