Upcoming EUSAIR Workshop in Bari: The Mediterranean Diet as a Driver of Sustainable Development
On 29–30 September 2025 a high-level workshop focused on how the Mediterranean Diet can serve as a strategic tool for sustainable tourism and local development across the Adriatic-Ionian region will be organized.
Organized by the EUSAIR Presidency of North Macedonia, CIHEAM Bari, DG REGIO, EGP and the Coordinators of EUSAIR Pillars I, IV & V in cooperation of DG AGRI, DG MARE, DG GROW/DG MOVE the event will bring together key institutional stakeholders, experts, civil society representatives, and regional actors.
The two-day programme, titled “Sustainable and Innovative Food Systems: The Mediterranean Diet as a Tool for Tourism and Local Development in EUSAIR Communities,” builds on key messages from the 10th EUSAIR Annual Forum. It aims to consolidate the Mediterranean Diet as a strategic flagship initiative aligned with the EU Green Deal, the Farm to Fork Strategy, and regional Smart Specialisation priorities.
Participants will engage in high-level discussions and thematic workshops focused on:
- Agrotourism, ecotourism and bio-districts
- Organic, origin and local quality food systems
- Youth, skills development and digital innovation in food and tourism sectors
The event will conclude with the consolidation of proposals for the Mediterranean Diet Flagship and an optional visit to a regional Bio-district.
