EUSAIR PRESS CONTEST

EUSAIR Facility Point is organising a contest for the best EUSAIR press contribution. 

EUSAIR (EU Strategy for the Adriatic and Ionian Region), one of the four EU Macro-regional Strategies, joins together 10 countries striving to find solutions for common challenges in the common sea basins and its hinterlands. The countries and the stakeholders work together for the benefit of the entire Adriatic and Ionian Region. The Strategy promotes economic growth and prosperity in the Region, by improving its attractiveness, competitiveness, and connectivity. Additionally, it also contributes to the protection of sea, coastal and inland environment and ecosystems. 

One of the issues EUSAIR is dealing with is a low-level of awareness of its work and even of its existence. In order to promote excellence in journalism and recognize outstanding contributions that raise awareness about the EUSAIR and its role for the development of the region, EUSAIR press contest will be held. 

The contest can be entered by any journalist from EU and/or EUSAIR country with a contribution on the topic of EUSAIR and macro-regional cooperation. The submissions can be written or audio-visual. All the contributions published by recognised news organisation between 1 June 2022 and 30 June 2023 are eligible. The contribution should be submitted by 30 June 2023 via online form accessible below. 

The winner will be announced at the Mediterranean Coast and Macro-regional Strategies Week 2023 in Izola in September. The award will be given to the journalist who will most persuasively tell the story of EUSAIR, its achievements and, among others, highlight the value of macro-regional cooperation.

Which contributions are eligible?

The publication date of the contribution should be between 1 July 2022 and 30 June 2023.

Publication has to be published in a recognised news organisation. The deadline for the submission of the contributions is June 30, 2023.

The submissions can be submitted in the following formats:

• written,
• audio-visual

Articles must not be longer than 2000 words. Audio-video entries can be up to 20 minutes long. Up to three articles can be submitted per author. All three contributions can be submitted in the same form.

Who can participate?

Any journalist that works in one of the EU countries and/or one of the EUSAIR countries is eligible to submit a contribution to the EUSAIR press contest. 

Contributions can be submitted in any of the official languages of the EUSAIR participating countries and any of the EU official languages. The contributions will be translated into English and subsequently reviewed by the jury.

What should my contribution be about if I wish to submit it?

We are seeking contributions about any aspect of EUSAIR, its value, role, and functioning that articulate the story of EUSAIR and present its work in a compelling manner. The submissions can additionally refer to the broader topic of Macro-regional cooperation, including best practices of regional cooperation, though such contributions need to include a reference to EUSAIR. 

Who will judge the contributions?

The EUSAIR press contest jury will be composed of acclaimed experts from the field, renowned journalists and EUSAIR representatives. 

What about the winners?

The jury will choose the winner and the two runners-up. The winner will be officially announced at the Mediterranean Coast and Macro-regional Strategies Week 2023 in Izola in September 2023. The organisation, as well as the costs of the winning journalist’s travel and accommodation to Izola, will be arranged. As a reward, the winning journalist will be able to attend up to 5 EUSAIR events of their choice whereby his or her transportation and accommodation costs will be covered by the Facility Point. 

The two runner-ups will receive symbolic prizes and a certificate. Additionally, the winning contributions will be promoted within the EUSAIR communication network. 

The winner as well as the two runner-ups will be informed by email by the end of July 2023.
