On behalf of the AII/EUSAIR Albanian Chairmanship, please find below a joint statement agreed at the AII/EUSAIR Trio meeting, held on February 28, regarding the situation in Ukraine.
The TRIO-Presidency of the EU Strategy for the Adriatic and Ionian Region, and of the Adriatic-Ionian Initiative, shocked by the military invasion of Ukraine from the Russian Federation, strongly condemns in the strongest terms this unprovoked and illegal act of war against a sovereign and independent state.
The AII/EUSAIR foundations are rooted on the values and standards of European Union and we stand today to show our strong solidarity and heartfelt compassion with all the like-minded countries and nations, including Ukraine. We stand with Ukraine, its government and the friendly Ukrainian people.
This violation of the international law threatens the regional, European and global security and as such it is unaccepted and the responsible persons should be kept accountable.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of the innocent victims of this unjust war.
