Young people from across the Adriatic and Ionian Region continue to show a strong interest in having a say in shaping the future of their region.

Through the recent call for new members of the EUSAIR Youth Council (EYC), young people aged 18–29 from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Greece, North Macedonia, San Marino and Slovenia were invited to apply and become actively involved in EUSAIR.

The call attracted 103 eligible applications from seven countries, demonstrating significant interest among young people in contributing to cooperation across the region. Nine new members were selected to join the 20-member Youth Council.

Giving young people a voice in EUSAIR

Established in October 2024, the EUSAIR Youth Council brings young people’s perspectives into the governance of the EU Strategy for the Adriatic and Ionian Region. It is an independent advisory body representing young people from across the region and has a consultative role in relation to the EUSAIR Governing Board and Thematic Steering Groups. The Council also cooperates with the EUSAIR Presidency on youth-related issues and other topics of common interest.

Through this role, young people can contribute their perspectives, recommendations and insights to the EUSAIR governance framework, ensuring that their voices are heard in discussions concerning the development of the Adriatic and Ionian Region.
