Croatia’s chairmanship of the Strategy and the Adriatic-Ionian Initiative also coincides with the 10th anniversary of the Republic of Croatia’s membership in the European Union.
During the one-year presidency, Croatia will highlight as its political priorities the transformation of the Strategy in the new macro-regional circumstances, encourage a stronger contribution of the Strategy and Initiatives to the EU enlargement process, the completion of the Strategy revision process, as well as stronger institutional cooperation in the framework of the four EU macro-regional strategies.
As its thematic priorities Croatia, guided by the current circumstances and context, has determined to strengthen resilience through better connectivity – transport, energy and digital – then sustainable growth and tourism, and to encourage social cohesion, through the introduction of a new Pillar in the Strategy dedicated to social issues.
The official inaugural conference of the Croatian chairmanship will be held on June 20, 2023 in Zagreb, and the most important and final event of the chairmanship – the 9th Annual EUSAIR Forum – will be held in May 2024.
