The 11th Mediterranean Coast and Macro-Regional Strategies Week will take place from 15 to 17 September 2026 in Izola, Slovenia.

This year’s edition will showcase Macro-Regional Strategies in Action: What Becomes Possible – highlighting how cooperation at the macro-regional level translates into tangible results at the local level.

What to expect in 2026

Our programme will focus on key themes shaping the future of the regions, including:

  • Environmental quality, climate change adaptation, and risk management – tackling shared transnational challenges through coordinated action.
  • EU cohesion policy as a driver of common investment – strengthening synergies between EU programmes and national or private funding, supported by successful examples of MRS embedding.
  • EU enlargement and the integration of candidate countries within Macro-Regional Strategies frameworks.
  • Youth engagement and entrepreneurship – empowering new ideas, innovation, and sustainable business models.

Bringing together policymakers, civil society, local actors and businesses to shape a more resilient, sustainable and connected European future.
