The 24th meeting of the EUSAIR Thematic Steering Group on Transport (TSG2) took place online on 24 April 2026 via the EUSAIR Stakeholder Platform, under the coordination of the Pillar Coordinators. The meeting gathered Standing Members from participating countries, representatives of the IPA ADRION Managing Authority, and the Lead Partners of the EUSAIR Governance Support Projects.
Within the framework of the revised EUSAIR Action Plan, discussions focused on key priorities related to sustainable and multimodal transport development in the Adriatic–Ionian Region.
Particular attention was devoted to the ongoing update of the EUSAIR Master Plan on Transport. The EUSAIR Multimodal Transport Model (EMTM) has been updated to the 2023 base year, and three scenarios have been defined: a Baseline Scenario (including projects already financed or at an advanced stage), a Long-Term Scenario (based on national strategies and plans), and a TEN-T Completion Scenario. TSG2 members were invited to review and validate the updated baseline and contribute to the consolidation of the dataset supporting the modelling exercise.
The IPA ADRION Managing Authority provided an update on programme activities relevant to EUSAIR transport priorities, including capitalisation efforts and initial reflections on the post-2027 programming period (2028–2034).
Further updates addressed EUSAIR’s contribution to the EU Enlargement process, highlighting the alignment of Pillar 2 Transport with Chapters 14 (Transport) and 27 (Environment and Climate Change), and ongoing activities supporting capacity building and knowledge transfer in candidate countries.
The meeting also included the approval of a joint set of Rules of Procedure for TSG2 Transport and Energy and highlighted contributions from the EUSAIR Youth Council on initiatives to strengthen youth engagement in the transport sector.
Finally, the Programme of Work for 2026 was presented, including the Transport Thematic Session at the 11th EUSAIR Annual Forum (Skopje, 19 May 2026) and a Conference on EU Transport Corridors planned under the Italian Presidency. The next TSG2 Transport meeting is expected in autumn 2026, either to be held in Belgrade or Rome, under the Italian Presidency.
