9th June 2026

DG REGIO and AEBR will be hosting a policy session on Cross-Border Energy Communities and interregional cooperation at the European Sustainable Energy Week 2026.

EUSEW is the biggest annual event dedicated to renewables and efficient energy use in Europe, organised by DG ENER and CINEA, and the 2026 edition marks its landmark 20th anniversary.

The session, titled “Cross-Border Energy Communities and Interregional Cooperation: Fostering the development of energy communities across borders”, will take place on 9 June 2026 from 16:30 to 18:00, at the NH Berlaymont Simone Veil in Brussels and online.

Their session will bring together policymakers, energy communities, and Interreg projects to explore:
•     The opportunities and challenges of cross-border energy communities
•     CBEC pilot actions operating across EU borders, within the CBEC project jointly managed by AEBR and Mission Opérationnelle Transfrontalière (MOT), with technical assistance from REScoop.eu
•     How EU instruments like Interreg are supporting citizens’ energy cooperation at cross-border and interregional level
•     Live polls and a participatory brainstorming, both in person and online!
