Are “Cultural Routes” a driving force for development in the EU macro-regions?

The meeting in Vienna on 14-15 October is the opportunity for participants to discuss about and how to develop their potential through the Routes4U activities. Participants will learn more about the promotion and brand exercise of Routes4U, and more specifically its implementation through a Cultural Routes Card as well as the production of a macro-regional brand for the Cultural Routes. They will also discuss cultural tourism as driver for growth, jobs and economic development in the macro-regions.x

Representatives from European Institutions, EU macro-regional strategies, cultural routes projects, Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe networks and stakeholders from the cultural and tourism field at national and macro-regional level will attend the event.

The event is organised with the support of the Austrian Federal chancellery.

The Routes4U aims to foster regional development in the sectors of tourism and culture through the Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe in the EU macro-regions, namely the EUSALP, EUSDSR, EUSBR, EUSAIR, by certifying the existing cultural routes or extend the certified cultural according to the priorities of the EU macro-regions.

In the past several international workshops took place tackling the Cultural Routes in the EUSAIR, and specifically the cooperation between the EUSAIR Pillar 4 (Sustainable Tourism) and the Routes4U project, which resulted in the Routes4U meeting for the Adriatic-Ionian Region in June 2018 and consultation process between within the EUSAIR Pillar 4 Steering Group (in charge for Sustainable Tourism topics in the EUSAIR) who identified the Routes of the Olive Tree and Roman Heritage Routes as EUSAIR priorities and certified Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe.
